Accomplished in running beverage portfolios in five-star establishments such as One&Only Cape Town, Taj Cape Town, and Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel amongst others, specialist Pearl Oliver-Mbumba is well recognized for driving a true passion for wine in the hospitality industry.
Having successfully executed award-winning wine lists for Diners Club International and Platter’s wine list awards, she is ready to share the knowledge she obtained throughout her career. Along with her incredible hands-on experience she is pursuing her WSET Level 3, to add on to Certification from the Cape Wine Academy, and A Postgraduate Diploma in Management Practice, specializing in Wine Business Management from the UCT GSB. She served as a wine judge for Wineland magazine, Ultra Value Wine Challenge, and Shiraz SA, amongst others.
Pearl wishes to apply all the knowledge and industry contacts she has made and bring businesses and suppliers together to create the best experiences for the establishments' guests.
Ready to share passions such as Wine consulting, Wine List Creation, Procurement, Costing- the general costing methods that are aligned to the establishment's beverage cost or a Progressional costing system- a local costing system integrated with an International costing system. Menu & Wine List alignment, Drinks training, Beverage Service training, corporate wine tasting, hosting wine dinners, create and restore private cellars, Product evaluation & brand awareness strategies.
Pearl is an honorary executive board member of the South African Sommeliers Association (SASA), and a previous chairperson of the Black Cellar Club (BLACC).
She is looking forward to sharing her journey with the Beverage industry as we are embracing a world of change after the COVID-19 Pandemic.
